Cambridge, Ontario

A Quick Trip

by David "Sumoflam" Kravetz

May 18, 2008: I had to take a trip to Cambridge to visit with one of my counterparts from CSI and we had lunch at the Japanese restaurant Samura.  While there, I took a quick little jaunt around the town.  I didn't have a whole lot of time, but I did touch on some of the highlights.  I just wish it would have been a sunnier day.

The first place I visited was downtown along the Grand River to see the famous, almost European looking view of the giant Central Presbyterian Church.  I tried to find some history about the church online, but have not found anything yet.  It is a magnificent site over the river.

Here are a couple of views of the Church

The Grand River has been dammed up in many places and Cambridge is one of these.

Along the river is another of those burger places.  This one claims to be the Best little food joint by a dam site....

Unfortunately, they were closed so I couldn't try their burgers....

...but that's OK, because I ate here and it was all you can eat Japanese food, including Sushi!!

After lunch I headed down the road and discovered another fun novelty site...a motel with a rocket ship.  Now that's fun

The Satellite Motel in Cambridge.  I took two views of the spaceship.

Finally, on the way home I saw a nice building in St. George, Ontario:
